SmartShelf privacy policy
SmartShelf is made by Blinqdroid. Contact: blinqdroid@gmail.com.
The short version
SmartShelf keeps everything on your phone. It has no internet permission, so it cannot send your data anywhere, and Blinqdroid never receives any of it. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What SmartShelf stores, and where
- Your items: the text you save (copied text, text you select or share to SmartShelf, and items you type), with the type it looks like (for example address or phone number), when it was saved, and which app it is saved for. They are stored only in SmartShelf's private storage on your phone.
- Your shortcuts: what you put on the panel's Shortcuts page: apps, web addresses, Android settings screens, tools, and the name and phone number of any contact you pick for it. A contact is chosen in Android's own contact picker, which shares only the one number you pick; SmartShelf cannot read the rest of your contacts.
- Your settings: such as the side of the screen the tab sits on and its colour.
None of this leaves your phone. SmartShelf turns off Android's cloud backup, so your items are not copied to Google Drive. If you move to a new phone with Android's phone-to-phone transfer, they may move with you, directly between your own devices.
Deleting an item or a shortcut removes it. Settings, Delete all items removes every item, and uninstalling SmartShelf removes everything it stored.
The Accessibility service (Smart paste)
Smart paste is optional and off until you turn it on in Android's Accessibility settings. SmartShelf uses the Accessibility service only to:
- see which app you are using, so the panel can show the items saved for that app;
- notice when you tap Copy, so the copied text can be saved as an item; and
- paste an item into the text box you are typing in, when you tap it.
To do these, SmartShelf reads the name of the app in front, the button you tap when it is Copy, the text you have selected, and which text box has the cursor. It keeps only the items you see in the panel. It does not record your screen, read your messages, or keep anything else it sees. None of it leaves your phone.
Payment and banking apps
While a payment, UPI, wallet or banking app is in front (Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay, BHIM, your bank's app and the like), SmartShelf steps aside: the side tab is hidden, and Smart paste notes only that such an app is open, so it can hide the tab. It reads nothing on those screens and saves nothing from them. You can add other apps to this list in Settings. This is on by default; you can turn it off in Settings if you want your items in those apps too.
Usage access
Usage access is optional. If you allow it, SmartShelf uses it only to tell which app is in front, for the same reason as above. It does not read or keep your app usage history.
Display over other apps and notifications
SmartShelf uses Display over other apps to show the side tab and the panel over other apps, and a silent notification while the side tab is on, which Android requires. Neither collects any data.
The clipboard
SmartShelf reads your clipboard only when you open the panel (if the setting Save the last thing I copied is on), when you tap Save what I copied, or right after you tap Copy with Smart paste on. What it reads stays on your phone, as an item you can delete.
Purchase check
SmartShelf is a paid app. To confirm that your copy came from Google Play, it asks the Google Play Store app on your phone, which checks with Google. SmartShelf itself sends nothing; Google Play handles this under Google's privacy policy. Blinqdroid receives no information about you from it.
Children
SmartShelf is a general tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
